Holly Madison’s reportedly haunted Hollywoodland home is now for rent at $9,500 a month
September 22, 2026 · By Roy Condrey
The 1926 Tudor at 6311 Heather Drive in Los Angeles has a celebrity owner, a Ghost Adventures investigation and years of reported unexplained activity.
6311 Heather Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068, a storybook Tudor owned by television personality and author Holly Madison, is back in the spotlight. The nearly century-old Hollywoodland home, which Madison has publicly described as haunted and which was investigated on Ghost Adventures, is now being offered for rent for $9,500 per month.
Built in 1926, the house sits in historic Hollywoodland in the Beachwood Canyon area near the Hollywood Sign. Madison purchased the property in 2012 for just under $1.5 million and has spoken publicly for years about unusual experiences she says occurred there.
The combination of Hollywood history, celebrity ownership, paranormal claims and a nationally televised investigation makes 6311 Heather Drive another example of why researching a home's history can reveal much more than a traditional real estate listing.
A 1926 Hollywoodland house with a distinctive history
The Tudor-style house was constructed during the early years of the Hollywoodland development, when the hills above Los Angeles were filling with distinctive Spanish, Tudor and storybook-style homes.
Madison has said she became interested in the neighborhood years before purchasing the property. She eventually bought 6311 Heather Drive in 2012 and made it her Los Angeles home.
The house's wooded hillside setting and architecture may have originally attracted her, but another part of its identity eventually became much better known.
Madison says unusual things began happening there.
For people interested in homes with unusual histories, DiedInHouse has covered many similar properties in its guide to haunted houses, paranormal reports and what homebuyers should know.
Holly Madison says she experienced unexplained activity inside the house
Madison has publicly described hearing unexplained noises and experiencing other unusual events after moving into the house.
Among the experiences she has discussed are unexplained sounds, voices and doors apparently opening without anyone nearby.
Her former Girls Next Door co-star Bridget Marquardt, who has long been interested in paranormal investigation, has also spent time investigating the property.
Those stories eventually attracted the attention of one of television's best-known paranormal investigation programs.
It is important to distinguish between documented property history and paranormal claims. There is no scientific confirmation that the house is haunted. Madison's experiences are her own accounts.
That distinction is something we emphasize in our guide on how to research a home's history before assuming it is haunted. A property's documented history can often be researched even when paranormal claims cannot be independently verified.
Ghost Adventures investigated 6311 Heather Drive
The home's reputation expanded nationally when Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures team investigated Madison's house in 2021.
The property appeared in the episode “Haunting in the Hills,” which focused on the unusual activity Madison said she had experienced inside the home.
The investigation brought national attention to the exact address and made 6311 Heather Drive part of the growing list of real properties that have become known through paranormal television.
The episode itself can be verified through the program's television records, including its listing on Rotten Tomatoes.
Whatever someone believes about ghosts, the television appearance is now part of the documented cultural history associated with the property.
That same distinction between folklore and documented history is important when researching other supposedly haunted houses. DiedInHouse explores it further in Is My House Haunted? 13 Signs and How to Research Its History.
Why Holly Madison decided to rent rather than sell
Recent reporting indicates Madison considered selling the Hollywoodland house but ultimately decided she was not ready to permanently give it up.
Instead, she chose to make the property available as a rental.
The current asking rent is $9,500 per month, according to recent real estate listings for 6311 Heather Drive.
The property listing describes the residence as a 1926 Tudor in Hollywoodland and confirms the current rental price. Prospective renters can view current property information through real estate listing services carrying the address.
Madison's decision means someone could soon be living in a house that millions of television viewers have already seen portrayed as potentially haunted.
Would a renter know about the Ghost Adventures history?
That raises a larger property-history question.
A rental listing typically focuses on the home's condition, architecture, amenities, location and monthly rent.
It may not provide a complete history of unusual events, previous residents, deaths, crimes, paranormal claims or media appearances associated with an address.
That does not necessarily mean information was improperly withheld. Real estate disclosure requirements vary significantly by state, and psychological or historical stigmas are treated differently from physical defects.
California has specific rules regarding certain stigmatized-property disclosures, and buyers or renters should consult current California law or a qualified real estate professional when disclosure requirements matter to a particular transaction.
But the broader point remains: a real estate listing is not a complete biography of a house.
We recently explored this issue in The House Looked Perfect. Its Past Wasn't in the Listing, which explains why important historical information can remain outside a typical listing.
A home inspection would not tell you this history
This is also why property-history research is different from a home inspection or appraisal.
A professional inspection evaluates the physical condition of the property.
An appraisal estimates the property's market value.
Neither is specifically intended to research everything that may have happened at the address over the previous decades.
Property-history research can instead look for information involving previous residents, deaths, crimes, fires, drug activity and other documented events connected to an address.

Hollywood has plenty of homes with stories attached to them
6311 Heather Drive is hardly the only Los Angeles address whose past has become almost as well known as the property itself.
Some homes become famous because of celebrities who lived there. Others become associated with crimes, deaths, movies, television programs or local legends.
For example, DiedInHouse has documented several famous Los Angeles properties where historical events became permanently connected to the address, including notorious homes whose addresses were later changed or whose original structures no longer exist.

Los Angeles is also home to properties such as the Cecil Hotel at 640 S. Main Street, where more than a century of documented events, deaths and cultural history have become inseparable from the property itself.
6311 Heather Drive now has another chapter in its history
Whether Holly Madison's Hollywoodland house is actually haunted cannot be established from television investigations or personal accounts.
What can be documented is that Madison owns the property, has publicly described unusual experiences there, and the house was investigated on Ghost Adventures in 2021.
Now another chapter has been added.
Instead of selling the house, Madison has placed 6311 Heather Drive on the rental market for $9,500 a month.
For a future renter, the property's architecture and location may be what initially catches their attention.
Its history may be what makes it unforgettable.
At DiedInHouse.com, our goal is to help buyers, renters, homeowners and real estate professionals research what may have happened at an address before making a major decision.
A property can look completely ordinary today while carrying decades of history that may never appear in a conventional listing.
House history first. Then inspection and appraisal.
